Job Description
Tamara is seeking an Engineering Manager II to guide a critical segment of its engineering division in India. As a prominent fintech platform operating in Saudi Arabia and the GCC region, Tamara delivers trusted financial solutions across retail, travel, education, and healthcare to over 25 million customers and 130,000 partner merchants. Backed by Sanabil Investments and SNB Capital, the company invites driven leaders to oversee a team of six to ten senior engineers organized across up to two squads.
This on-site position involves steering the architectural direction of the team's systems while ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability. The chosen candidate will collaborate closely with business and product leadership to shape medium- and long-term strategies, manage cross-team dependencies, and cultivate the professional growth of senior engineers. Ideal applicants possess a strong technical background in modern software development and a proven history of engineering leadership.
Responsibilities
- Inspire and direct a group of senior engineers in alignment with the company vision
- Balance long-term technical quality with short-term delivery goals
- Mentor direct reports and skip-level staff for future leadership paths
- Drive team organization, recruitment plans, performance management, and succession planning
- Guide system architectural discussions to boost scalability, performance, and reliability
- Own delivery plans for initiatives crossing multiple teams and resolve complex cross-team obstacles
- Collaborate with Product and business leaders to influence product roadmaps and strategic goals
Requirements
- At least four years of experience managing one or more engineering teams
- Demonstrated track record of leading senior individual contributors and complex projects
- Experience overseeing delivery for initiatives spanning multiple teams or complex product domains
- Technical background in modern software development including Java or Go, Kubernetes, CI/CD, messaging queues, and cloud services
- Experience collaborating with product managers to connect technical strategy with business goals
- Background in developing engineering talent and mentoring senior engineers
- Expertise in Agile practices and managing delivery challenges in a fast-paced setting
