Senior Engineering Manager, Brand Ads and Promotions

This senior engineering manager post is in London on a hybrid basis, usually with three office days each week. It leads engineering for Brand Ads and Promotions within the EMEA Ads organisation. Across DoorDash, Wolt and Deliveroo, the wider Ads and Promotions unit runs an advertising marketplace spanning sponsored listings, in-app promotions and off-platform campaigns linking merchants and brands with shoppers.

The Brand Ads and Promotions teams create self-serve and programmatic ad tooling. Their scope runs the length of the advertising lifecycle: onboarding advertisers, managing programmatic campaigns and providing measurement so brands and merchants can judge performance. The manager steers this work, which spans distributed back-end services and front-end applications, and acts as the single accountable leader for EMEA Ads while overseeing several teams.

The role includes building and retaining software and machine learning engineers and fellow managers, setting engineering vision and strategy, and balancing near-term deliverables against long-term architecture and engineering practice. The leader is expected to bring AI tools into productivity and team processes, and to step into technical detail when a team needs help with a difficult issue.

Strong candidates have built large-scale distributed systems in software engineering and have assembled teams from scratch while working within a senior leadership structure. Excellent communication and coaching ability, experience with performance reviews, and comfort with ambiguity are essential. A focus on the needs of consumers, riders and merchants, plus a growth orientation, is valued. Prior ad-tech experience is advantageous rather than mandatory.
