Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a Senior Go/Kubernetes Engineer to join its Elasticsearch core and infrastructure team in the United Kingdom. Operating as a full-time position, this role focuses on building and maintaining scalable shared platform capabilities, distributed systems, and serverless orchestration.
The successful candidate will design APIs, resolve complex technical and performance challenges, and enhance developer productivity through automation. This position is suited for an engineer experienced in low-level abstraction, cross-team collaboration, and building cloud-native infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve distributed systems that manage Serverless Elasticsearch across cloud providers
- Own Kubernetes orchestration for Elasticsearch clusters hosted in the cloud
- Develop horizontally scalable features and APIs within Elasticsearch
- Identify automation opportunities and integrate agentic applications into development workflows to increase team productivity
- Investigate and resolve difficult concurrency, performance, and stability issues end-to-end
- Improve operational visibility and observability for cloud systems
- Contribute to open source projects and collaborate with the engineering community
- Assist support engineers with challenging technical problems
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Go, including concurrency primitives, error handling, and generics
- Hands-on experience working with containers and Kubernetes
- Experience designing APIs and reasoning through technical tradeoffs
- Proficiency in data structures and algorithms
- Track record of utilizing AI to accelerate development, debug complex systems, and optimize code
- Ability to work autonomously and drive decisions using asynchronous and transparent communication
Qualifications
- Experience building Kubernetes controllers using client-go or controller-runtime
- Experience leading large-scale projects across multiple engineering teams
- Knowledge of Java, standard Java data structures, concurrency constructs, and JDK internals
- Hands-on practice with CI/CD systems such as Argo CD, Buildkite, and GitOps
- Familiarity with Java build tools like Gradle and Maven
- Experience implementing observability and telemetry solutions like OpenTelemetry
- Previous background working inside a platform or developer productivity team
