Job Description
Canva is hiring a Senior Graphic AI Designer for a six-month contract at full-time hours. The listing points to Sydney or Melbourne and marks the post as on-site. The designer works inside Content Studio within the Content and Discovery Supergroup, helping shape Canva's visual AI through a designer's eye.
Day-to-day work includes labelling large batches of visuals, such as photos, interface mockups, compositional studies, graphic pieces and imagery, to a high standard. The designer assesses AI outputs for look, layout, accessibility, ease of use and brand fit. They also write scoring frameworks, catch recurring errors and edge cases, and translate design critique into specific guidance for ML engineers and researchers. Some hours go to testing workflows with generative tools and helping define classification categories for visual styles.
The ideal person has strong fundamentals in composition, colour, typography, layout and hierarchy, and a portfolio covering graphic, product, UI/UX or illustration work. Documentation and dataset quality matter. Applicants should include a portfolio showing graphic design work and practical visual AI experience, and interviews take place online.
