Freshworks is hiring a full-time Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting to lead the monthly revenue close process under a hybrid work schedule based at the San Mateo, California headquarters. This position requires some early-morning or evening availability to coordinate with the India-based revenue team. The role suits a professional capable of balancing routine close deadlines with multi-quarter, cross-functional system and process transformation projects involving AI and automation. The compensation package includes an annual base salary ranging from USD 180,000 to 220,000, along with eligibility for variable compensation, bonus, or equity.
As part of the finance organization, the incoming manager acts as a second reviewer on revenue transactions and final reviewer for high-value items. Key partnerships involve collaborating with FP&A, IT, Billing, Sales Ops, and Data teams on initiatives like billing-to-revenue integrations and close automation. The position also entails owning close controls, supporting external audits, and mentoring revenue accountants and analysts.
Responsibilities
- Manage the revenue close process by acting as the second reviewer on reconciliations and disclosures, and final reviewer for high-value items
- Partner with finance, IT, Billing, Sales Ops, and Data leaders on multi-quarter transformation initiatives including billing integrations and close automation
- Collaborate with the India-based revenue team to establish review standards, provide coaching, and analyze second-review findings
- Coordinate with FP&A on revenue forecasts, budget-to-actual variances, deferred revenue data, and bookings-to-revenue bridges
- Execute and document revenue-related close controls and support external audit procedures and walkthroughs
- Escalate technical accounting items properly and mentor revenue accountants and analysts
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Possess eight or more years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or revenue operations, preferably within SaaS or technology sectors
- Bring hands-on experience with close and review responsibilities, system implementations, and process transformation projects
- Demonstrate working knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition concepts, SOX controls, and offshore team coordination
- Have working knowledge of AI and automation applications in finance and accounting
Qualifications
- Hold a CPA certification
- Have practical experience using AI tools like LLM assistants for finance workflows
- Show background working at a public, high-growth SaaS company
- Demonstrate familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce, Chargebee, or similar billing platforms
- Possess strong Excel, SQL, and data analysis skills alongside prior people management experience
