Job Description

Canonical, the company that builds Ubuntu, is recruiting a Senior Product Marketing Manager to shape how its products are positioned and taken to market. This is a full-time, fully remote post for candidates based in the EMEA region. The company sells to major public cloud and silicon providers as well as to enterprises in many sectors, and its software is used for data science, AI, engineering and IoT work.

The marketer builds and runs go-to-market plans for several products and sets the messages and positioning that help each one compete in a crowded field. Content planning is part of the role too, covering website copy, whitepapers, blogs and sales enablement assets, produced alongside product managers.

Launch work is a large share of the job. The marketer leads teams from several functions to bring new products and features to market and to build awareness and uptake. Competitor research and market monitoring feed back into positioning. The marketer also works with regional marketing staff on joined-up campaigns meant to expand the sales pipeline, and supports customer success staff on upselling and cross-selling.

Results drive decisions here. The marketer uses data to sharpen messages, improve marketing funnels and deepen customer engagement. Conferences, webinars and community meetups are organized to match go-to-market priorities.

The ideal hire cares about technology and open source, tells stories that land with engineers and with business buyers, and enjoys testing new approaches. Prior work marketing business technology, including cloud, DevOps and open source offerings, is treated as an advantage, as is experience generating demand. Pay is set by location, experience and skills, and some roles also qualify for bonuses or sales incentives.
