Job Description

SEEK is recruiting a Senior Security Engineer for its Cyber Security team. The posting does not specify a city, and the role is full-time and on-site. The team is multidisciplinary and encourages members to build skills across several security areas. The engineer is expected to identify risks, shape controls and work with others to strengthen security across SEEK's infrastructure and products.

The post centres on detecting threats and responding to incidents. The engineer gathers and assesses threats aimed at SEEK and its customers, studies the threat environment, and helps shape the team's direction across long-term, mid-term and day-to-day decisions. Incidents are examined to pin down how attackers got in, which methods they used and how controls were bypassed. The engineer also takes part in internal red and purple team exercises.

Other work includes supporting threat intelligence and detection programmes, including detection logic aligned with MITRE ATT&CK. The engineer finds gaps in technology and process, writes runbooks and response steps, and partners with engineering teams so that protections are built in from the start of product and platform design. The role also helps prioritise remediation work.

Applicants should have six or more years in information security, centred on detection engineering, incident response and security operations. Experience responding to incidents across AWS, GCP and Azure is required, along with a solid grasp of cloud logs, telemetry and forensic evidence. Exposure to threat hunting, purple teaming or threat intelligence, or certifications such as GCFA, GCFE, GCIH or GREM, is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, assess and report on dangers aimed at SEEK and its customer base
  • Study the threat environment to guide long-term, mid-term and day-to-day decisions
  • Examine incidents to establish how intruders got in and which controls they got around
  • Take part in and inform internal red and purple team exercises
  • Support threat intelligence and detection engineering, including detection logic aligned with MITRE ATT&CK
  • Identify technology and process gaps and recommend improvements
  • Create and keep current playbooks, response steps and defensive methods
  • Work with development and engineering teams so protections are built in from the outset

Requirements

  • Six or more years in information security, centred on detection engineering, incident response and security operations
  • Hands-on background in incident response across AWS, GCP and Azure environments
  • Ability to read cloud logs, telemetry and forensic evidence across identity, network and workloads
  • Experience investigating cloud attack paths, including compromised credentials, privilege escalation and unauthorised API activity
  • Experience planning, building and running threat hunting and incident response capability
  • Ability to handle several initiatives largely unsupervised
  • Communication that lands with both engineers and non-technical audiences

Qualifications

  • Exposure to proactive hunting, purple-team work, threat-intel analysis or adversary technique study is an advantage
  • Security or cloud certifications such as GCFA, GCFE, GCIH or GREM are an advantage

Core Skills

Benefits

  • Annual performance bonus plan
  • Flexible working that combines office days with remote days, according to the role
  • Paid and unpaid leave options, such as flexible personal days and volunteer days
  • Option to buy additional leave
