Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its GRC engineering team to help construct automated, data-driven security systems built around self-healing and defense-in-depth principles. Known for its fully managed observability platform utilized by over ten thousand organizations, Grafana Labs operates entirely remotely across more than forty countries. In this position, you will create tools, services, and security observability mechanisms that proactively safeguard systems, enforce compliance, and provide internal developers with clear guardrails. You will write and deploy security policies across applications, infrastructure, and the software development lifecycle while collaborating closely with colleagues across the security department and the wider organization. This hands-on software development role requires active coding skills, production-level programming experience, and a willingness to learn regulatory frameworks quickly. Qualified candidates residing in Ireland will receive a base salary between EUR 104,000 and EUR 124,800 per year, supplemented by Restricted Stock Units that provide company ownership.
Responsibilities
- Contribute technically to the GRC team across certification, application, build, cloud, and supply chain security as well as internal security tooling development
- Develop, implement, and maintain automated security assurance programs to satisfy regulatory standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, NIST, PCI-DSS, and TISAX
- Build observability systems and automations that move GRC engineering past basic certification requirements
- Deploy compliance checks and paved roads into daily developer workflows and build pipelines
- Partner with cross-functional teams to embed security controls into operational processes and the software development lifecycle
- Address customer security issues, alerts, and potential incidents
Requirements
- Write production code in at least one programming language such as Go, TypeScript, or Python and pass a code screen covering algorithms, data structures, and optimization
- Understand how to secure and utilize containerized, cloud-native applications, preferably using Kubernetes
- Automate security and compliance processes through scripts, tools, and frameworks while supporting employee workflows
- Communicate effectively with peers, stakeholders, auditors, and customers
Qualifications
- Familiarity with public cloud providers and securing large-scale distributed cloud systems
- Understanding of industry-recognized security frameworks and standards including ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, NIST, and GDPR
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Working knowledge of Grafana Labs open source software products and observability tooling
- Experience working with open source software communities and proving infrastructure compliance via technical automations
