ServiceNow is hiring a Senior Staff AI Native Engineer specializing in Kubernetes to join their team in Hyderabad on a full-time, on-site basis. This role focuses on leading the design, delivery, and production operation of complex components and services within a cloud-native platform.
The position suits an experienced technical leader who can translate ambiguous problems into scalable designs while maintaining a strong hands-on presence across the development lifecycle. The person in this role will build and operate Kubernetes platform infrastructure at scale, write core systems like Kubernetes operators and controllers, and collaborate with Principal and Distinguished Engineers to align with technical strategy.

Responsibilities
- Lead design and delivery of cloud-native platform components and services from creation through production
- Act as technical lead for major team initiatives by turning ambiguous goals into scalable designs
- Collaborate with Principal and Distinguished Engineers to align with platform architecture and long-term technical strategy
- Identify and resolve technical risks with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and engineering excellence
- Maintain a hands-on development presence including coding and code reviews for Kubernetes operators, controllers, and platform services
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and collaborative problem-solving
Requirements
- 12 or more years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms
- Demonstrated experience building and managing Kubernetes platform infrastructure at scale
- Hands-on development background with Kubernetes Operators, Admission Controllers, or platform extensions using frameworks like Kubebuilder
- Experience operating both self-managed Kubernetes environments and managed services such as EKS, AKS, and GKE
- Experience supporting stateful services, database platforms, or large-scale data infrastructure on Kubernetes
- Strong software engineering skills in Go for developing custom resource definitions, controllers, and platform automation
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture covering scheduling, orchestration, security, storage, networking, and workload management
- Experience with public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP compute, networking, and identity management
- Background in building microservices, event-driven systems, and distributed application architectures
- Familiarity with containers, CI/CD, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code using tools like Terraform or Crossplane
Qualifications
- Experience integrating artificial intelligence into engineering and platform workflows, automated operational workflows, or agentic systems
- Familiarity with container networking and service meshes
- Experience with mTLS, workload identity, and secrets management at fleet scale
- Experience with Apache Kafka high-scale clusters and high-availability strategies
- Experience with Redis high-scale clusters and high-availability strategies
- Knowledge of data formats including Parquet, ORC, and Avro along with compaction and governance strategies
