Upside seeks a Senior Strategic Account Executive, Fuel to drive enterprise sales growth by acquiring large fuel retail chains, wholesalers, and marketers. The organization operates a platform that connects brick-and-mortar commerce with online retail measurement techniques, helping physical stores gain profitable customers and providing users with cashback value.
This position reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Fuel and suits a business developer with a background in quota attainment, enterprise SaaS, or energy technology. Team members come from diverse professional backgrounds including venture capital, major tech firms, and fintech companies. The role involves managing the entire sales lifecycle from pipeline generation to account onboarding while coordinating closely with internal marketing, product, and sales teams.
Candidates may work flexibly, though individuals residing in the New York City, Chicago, Austin, or Washington, D.C. metropolitan areas are expected to work on a hybrid schedule in an office. The position entails traveling between 30 and 50 percent of the time.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales leadership and fuel team members to execute sales strategies and onboard enterprise fuel accounts onto the platform.
- Engage in consultative selling and build relationships with Director, VP, and C-suite executives.
- Demonstrate the company value proposition using data-driven, incrementality-focused methodologies.
- Coordinate directly with internal sales, product, and marketing departments to assist with go-to-market plans, merchant rollouts, and roadmaps.
- Drive sales execution, forecast management, and pipeline building for new fuel merchants.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of total sales experience.
- At least 7 years of experience selling to enterprise SaaS, fuel, convenience retail, or downstream energy technology companies.
- Demonstrated history of meeting or exceeding assigned sales quotas.
- Proven background in developing and scaling a portfolio of accounts from initial stages to high growth.
- Familiarity with structured sales methodologies and CRM pipeline management using Salesforce.
- Ability to travel 30 to 50 percent of the time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree or higher, with a Master degree preferred, though relevant work experience may substitute for education.
- Background interacting with executives regarding pricing, finance, marketing, and planning.
- Existing relationships within the fuel industry.
- Previous start-up work experience.
