Supabase is seeking a Software Engineer - Branching to help build a high-performance CI/CD execution platform for developers. Operating as a fully remote company, Supabase provides a Postgres development platform encompassing database, authentication, storage, edge functions, realtime, and vector search features. In this role, you will design and develop distributed systems that safely and efficiently execute developer pipelines, orchestrate ephemeral compute environments, and manage build isolation.
This position is well-suited for engineers who thrive in fast-paced, asynchronous environments and possess a passion for creating developer tools designed to scale significantly. Team members operate with high autonomy and collaborate across a globally distributed organization.
Responsibilities
- Design and improve the core orchestration engine managing Supabase Branches lifecycles including creation, merging, and rebasing
- Provision ephemeral sandboxed execution environments on EKS and ECS for untrusted build workloads with securely managed secrets
- Implement job scheduling capable of scaling to thousands of concurrent builds
- Optimize and minimize pipeline runtimes through artifact storage, caching, and dependency reuse
- Manage retry, timeout, cancellation, and failure-propagation logic for predictable pipeline behavior under failure conditions
- Instrument pipeline lifecycles with observability tooling to provide users with traces, metrics, and structured logs
- Develop configuration files in JSON and TOML alongside integrations like Terraform and Pulumi for defining, triggering, and inspecting pipelines
Requirements
- Software engineering experience with proficiency in Go and TypeScript
- Three or more years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure or distributed systems at scale
- Cloud infrastructure knowledge with familiarity in AWS constructs, AWS SDKs, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi or Terraform
- Production operations mindset focused on building reliable, observable, and maintainable systems
- Ability to operate independently with high-level guidance and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences
