This hybrid role involves building the next generation of the DoorDash traffic platform, serving consumers, merchants, and riders across DoorDash, Deliveroo, and Wolt. The selected candidate will own and develop infrastructure managing external traffic at the edge with Cloudflare and internal service-to-service communication via service mesh and authentication systems. Responsibilities center on distributed systems, networking, and security, requiring design, troubleshooting, and collaboration within the infrastructure organization.

Responsibilities
- Design and construct large-scale distributed systems handling high requests per second and strict latency requirements
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues to uphold established service level agreements
- Partner with platform and product engineering teams to fulfill feature requests and solve technical problems
- Enhance team productivity and operational capacity by implementing automation and AI tools
- Take part in a rotating on-call schedule to lead incident responses and production investigations
- Mentor team members and participate in design reviews, code pairing, and incident debriefs
Requirements
- Possess five or more years of software engineering experience focusing on infrastructure, networking, site reliability engineering, or platform engineering
- Demonstrate experience operating edge technologies at scale such as domain name systems, proxy layers, web application firewalls, and content delivery networks
- Bring a solid grasp of networking fundamentals including HTTP, gRPC, TCP/IP, load balancing, and HTTP/2
- Show background experience in debugging and developing high-QPS or latency-sensitive systems
- Work in an AI-first manner by orchestrating and delegating tasks to coding agents throughout the development lifecycle
Qualifications
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Go, Python, C++, or Rust
- Experience utilizing AWS cloud infrastructure, container management tools like Kubernetes, and networking primitives
- Background with service mesh technologies such as Istio, Envoy, or Linkerd
- Knowledge of control plane architectures or xDS
- Experience developing client-side networking libraries or remote procedure call frameworks
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code software like Terraform
- Experience using GitOps delivery tools such as Helm, ArgoCD, or Atlantis
- Demonstrated ability to share AI practices, tooling, and prompts that accelerate team delivery
