Job Description
Airalo is looking for a Solutions Architect to tune its Global MVNO Core to the rules of each country it enters. The core combines the HSS, DRA and PGW elements, and every one of them has to behave correctly in each local market, not just connect to the network.
The architect sits between the company's fast engineering cycles and the specialised requests that arrive from local operators, regulators and partners. The work is functional rather than purely technical: the architect explains why local rules exist and what they demand, so core network engineers can concentrate on the design. The position is fully remote. Airalo sells eSIM data to travellers in more than 200 countries and regions, and its staff are spread across over 60 nations.
A good fit is an experienced business analyst or solution architect from telecom or technology, who can discuss signalling and messaging with engineers and convert legal text into delivery plans. Fluent English, spoken and written, is required.
Responsibilities
- Translate regional obligations from legal and regulatory reviews into plain functional requirements for the Core Network team.
- Lead discovery sessions with operators, regulators and internal staff to fix scope, priorities and the delivery route.
- Weigh local demands against current platform capability, then co-design upgrades, trade-offs and phased releases with core engineers.
- Draw high-level flowcharts for regulated processes such as porting numbers and lawful interception.
- Set the rules and data flows for number porting, plus voice and SMS routing, including unusual cases and failure handling.
- List the data fields and reporting intervals authorities expect, along with the validation checks engineers must build.
- Draft acceptance criteria, test scenarios and sign-off conditions that confirm each country's obligations are covered.
- Keep one technical and regulatory checklist for several countries running in parallel, and raise risks early.
- Liaise with national databases and outside partners on interworking details and service quality targets.
- Coach analysts and delivery staff on writing stories, specifications and a clear path from rule to build.
Requirements
- Seven or more years in a business analysis or solution architecture role, ideally within telecom or technology.
- Proven ability to convert dense regulatory material into concrete engineering tasks.
- Able to hold informed discussions with engineers on SIP signalling, SMS routing and MNP databases.
- Writes user stories, functional specs and Jira tickets that developers can act on without guesswork.
- Interest in or experience with cross-border roaming, interconnection and national telecom market differences.
- Produces structured technical documentation and process diagrams.
- Has mentored colleagues and connected legal, product and engineering teams.
- Strong written and spoken English.
Qualifications
- Background in MVNO or mobile core environments.
- Knowledge of GSMA standards and eSIM technology.
- Understanding of Lawful Interception and regional compliance reporting.
