Job Description

Vercel functions as an agentic infrastructure provider that enables individuals and autonomous agents to deploy and execute software rapidly and securely. The organization supports millions of developers and serves prominent clients such as OpenAI, PayPal, and Ramp.

The company is currently hiring a Solutions Architect to join the Field Engineering division. This professional acts as a trusted advisor to enterprise clients throughout their entire lifecycle, operating across both technical pre-sales and post-sales functions. In the pre-sales capacity, the Solutions Architect evaluates technical suitability, formulates target-state architectures, executes evaluations, and proves the platform's business value. Post-sale, the role coordinates technical onboarding, guides architecture and implementation decisions, and collaborates with internal product and engineering teams to unblock client accounts. The position involves working with modern AI and web workloads, agentic workflows, and integrations with headless and composable ecosystems.

Candidates residing within a commuting radius of the London or Berlin office will participate in scheduled in-office anchor days. The role also requires some travel for industry events and client site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales personnel to execute technical discovery, evaluate use cases, and formulate solution strategies.
  • Design target architectures for agentic workflows, artificial intelligence, and web applications running on the platform.
  • Produce and present custom demonstrations, technical workshops, and presentations highlighting the platform's value.
  • Manage proofs of concept and pilots from start to finish by establishing success criteria and guiding implementation.
  • Direct strategic accounts post-sale regarding onboarding, reference implementations, migration patterns, and best practices.
  • Engage with clients on reliability, performance, and cost optimization using metrics like Lighthouse and Core Web Vitals.
  • Partner with other field engineers to develop standardized playbooks and reusable architecture patterns.
  • Coordinate architecture, security, and compliance reviews alongside internal specialists.
  • Relay recurring themes and technical feedback from clients to product and engineering roadmaps.
  • Contribute to internal enablement materials and external content including reference architectures and example repositories.

Requirements

  • Significant background in a client-facing technical position such as solutions architect, sales engineer, or platform architect.
  • Strong practical skills utilizing JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern web frameworks including Next.js.
  • Comprehension of web security, caching, networking, and performance principles, alongside artificial intelligence and large language model applications.
  • Capacity to articulate business outcomes to executives while discussing implementation details with developers.
  • Demonstrated history of managing complex technical projects involving multiple stakeholders under tight timelines.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and how SaaS integrations function within enterprise environments.
  • Understanding of developer experience and empathy for engineering teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience constructing artificial intelligence applications or agentic workloads utilizing tools like the AI SDK.
  • Production background in operating or deploying Next.js or alternative modern frontend frameworks on Vercel or comparable platforms.
  • Background working with enterprises standardizing on composable architectures including headless content management systems, commerce, search, and identity providers.
  • Possession of cloud or architecture certifications, or experience leading large migrations to cloud-native platforms.
  • Familiarity with privacy and security standards such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI DSS, along with participation in security reviews.

  • Competitive compensation package that includes equity.
