Job Description
Databricks, a data and AI company serving more than 20,000 organizations, is hiring a Senior AI Engineer for its AI FDE team, which sits within customer-facing professional services. The role is remote and open to candidates in remote locations. It includes customer visits, with travel once every four to eight weeks as needed.
The AI FDE team delivers professional services engagements that help customers build and put into production new AI applications. The engineer would develop GenAI solutions using recent research from Databricks, own production rollouts of GenAI applications for both consumers and internal users, and act as a trusted technical advisor across a range of domains.
The work also involves collaborating with product and engineering teams to shape priorities and the product roadmap. Speaking engagements at events like the Data + AI Summit are part of the role, which builds the engineer's profile as a thought leader inside and outside the company.
Candidates should have built GenAI applications such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL tools, and fine-tuned models, using tools like HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy. Experience deploying production GenAI applications, including evaluation and optimization work, is required. Extensive hands-on data science experience with pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch is expected, along with ML systems running in production on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
A graduate degree in a quantitative field is listed, or equivalent practical experience. Hands-on work with the Databricks platform and Spark for large-scale data processing is preferred. The posting says benefits differ by region and refers to a separate benefits page. It does not state a salary.
