ServiceNow is hiring a Sr Staff Software Engineer to join the Unified Employee Experience team, also known as EmployeeWorks, located in Hyderabad on an on-site basis. This full-time position centers on front-end architecture, where the chosen candidate will direct the roadmap, technical vision, and framework of the front-end platform utilized by various feature groups. Employees at large global enterprises use the division's products, including Employee Slate, Employee Center, and Employee Center Pro, across web and mobile platforms.
The role suits an experienced engineer who has previously designed and maintained a front-end platform at scale rather than just individual features. Responsibilities involve building modular component systems, managing end-to-end performance, handling cross-team technical initiatives, and guiding AI-assisted development guardrails. Candidates must bring extensive professional software engineering experience, mastery of JavaScript and TypeScript, and a background in designing framework-level abstractions for other teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage the architecture, technical direction, and roadmap for the front-end platform and its associated framework
- Design modular and reusable component systems for extensibility, versioning, and widespread adoption
- Oversee end-to-end front-end performance as the customer base and product expand
- Drive complex technical initiatives across multiple teams and resolve architectural disputes independently
- Lead architecture and code reviews while mentoring senior engineers
- Serve as the primary technical escalation point for difficult production front-end issues
- Establish guardrails for AI-assisted development and determine appropriate applications of AI in engineering workflows
- Collaborate early with product and design teams to shape product development
Requirements
- More than 10 years of professional software engineering experience with a primary focus on web front ends and platforms
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and JavaScript
- Advanced knowledge of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and design patterns
- Advanced experience utilizing modern component-based UI frameworks and web components such as React, Angular, Vue, or Lit
- Demonstrated background designing framework-level abstractions used by multiple engineering teams
- Extensive front-end performance experience covering profiling, diagnosis, and production bug fixes at scale
- Proven experience as a Principal or Staff engineer, or an equivalent senior individual contributor role responsible for technical direction
- Working proficiency in a server-side language such as Node.js, Java, Go, or Python
- Exposure to creating front ends on top of LLM or AI-driven capabilities
- Familiarity with leveraging or evaluating AI integration into problem-solving, workflows, or decision-making
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex architecture to various stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience with component libraries or design systems adopted across multiple organizations
- Experience with real user performance monitoring and front-end observability
- Familiarity with multi-tenant, large-scale SaaS platforms
