In this role, the engineer will set technical direction for teams building AI-native products, shaping how LLM-driven workflows, agentic patterns, and traditional platform engineering intersect. The position involves hands-on architectural decision-making, mentoring engineering talent, driving software delivery from conception through production operations, and championing the use of AI tools throughout the development lifecycle.
The Adoption Services team at ServiceNow constructs connected in-product experiences designed to help users learn and adopt platforms successfully. Core offerings include conversational AI assistance, contextual Q&A, guided tours, searchable help centers, configurable setup journeys, and feature discovery tools. This role suits an experienced engineer with a background in technical leadership, enterprise software delivery, and practical application of large language models.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and delivery of complex features across the platform through production operations
- Build AI-native capabilities incorporating LLM-integrated workflows, agentic patterns, and evaluation pipelines with a focus on reliability and governance
- Drive the adoption and usage of AI tools across all stages of the software development lifecycle
- Mentor mid-level and senior engineers while setting benchmarks for code quality, observability, and safe AI integration
- Partner with product managers, user experience professionals, and other engineering leads to scope shippable execution plans
- Manage production quality standards, defect triage, release readiness, and gate reviews for the designated area
Requirements
- Possess at least 12 years of software engineering experience with a demonstrated track record of technical leadership at the staff level or equivalent
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Java, JavaScript, or another relevant platform programming language alongside system design skills
- Bring hands-on experience building or integrating LLM-based features such as prompt design, context management, evaluation, and handling cost and latency trade-offs
- Hold working knowledge of agentic architectures involving tool use, orchestration, and human-in-the-loop controls
- Communicate clearly in written and verbal formats with the ability to brief leadership and align multiple teams
- Maintain familiarity with enterprise SaaS architectures, multi-tenant systems, and secure software delivery
Qualifications
- Experience with customer-facing adoption work beyond basic implementation
- Familiarity with AI technology stacks and tooling such as the LIT Framework and Temporal
