The company is currently hiring a Staff Software Engineer to direct the App Promotion engineering team. This position centers on guiding the App Install Optimization product from its beta phase to general availability, refining current features, resolving measurement blind spots, and preparing backend services, mobile clients, and Ads Manager infrastructure. The selected professional will lay the foundation for subsequent features including retargeting, tROAS, and App Event Optimization, collaborating closely with machine learning, ads quality, and measurement divisions.
This role is well-suited for an engineering leader with a background in performance, growth, or ads technology who can guide a team of five to six full-stack and mobile developers. The person stepping into this position will establish robust engineering standards, direct design reviews, handle incident responses, and cultivate an inclusive environment. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance from the Seattle office and are expected to work in-person one day per week. Pinterest evaluates candidates on their foundational technical capabilities as well as their approach to collaborating with artificial intelligence throughout the interview process.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering group responsible for the App Promotion objective and App Install Optimization through general availability
- Partner with product, design, and product marketing management to shape the advertiser experience within Ads Manager
- Collaborate with infrastructure, machine learning, and ads quality units to guarantee dependable serving, modeling, and experimentation
- Work alongside reporting and measurement teams to resolve mobile measurement partner and SKAN attribution limitations
- Set and maintain technical practices covering monitoring, design reviews, on-call rotations, and experimentation standards
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a diverse team of engineers while fostering operational excellence
Requirements
- Several years of engineering management experience leading mobile and/or full stack teams that shipped production systems
- Background in ads, growth, or performance engineering, focusing on lower-funnel objectives, app engagement, or app installs
- Demonstrated history of driving complex projects across multiple functional departments
- Ability to commute to the Seattle office to work in person one day per week
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
