This position centers on cloud-native and AI-native software creation, focusing on large language models, retrieval systems, and autonomous agents operating within infrastructure environments such as Google Cloud and AWS. The ideal candidate takes full ownership of the complete software lifecycle, including deployment, validation, testing, and evaluation of both standard code and artificial intelligence features.
The role involves working alongside software and AI engineers to build user-centric applications, develop technical plans, select models, and construct retrieval architectures. Responsibilities also include implementing prompt-injection defenses, safeguarding data privacy, handling personally identifiable information, and ensuring responsible artificial intelligence guardrails are maintained. The incoming engineer will mentor team members, guide daily tasks, perform detailed code reviews, and participate in root cause analysis for issues tied to model behavior or hallucinations.

Responsibilities
- Design and build intuitive AI-native software and technical specifications involving model selection, prompt design, and data retrieval architectures
- Analyze, automate, and build test evaluation harnesses for accuracy, regression, and hallucination checks prior to delivery
- Troubleshoot code and model behavior issues while adhering to secure coding practices and responsible AI guardrails
- Manage daily tasks of individual contributors and mentor software and AI engineers to maintain high product quality
- Perform code reviews covering deterministic code, prompt logic, agent instructions, and evaluation results
- Participate in root cause analysis to resolve customer-reported issues linked to model behavior, hallucinations, or retrieval quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product management and domain specialists to create scalable AI solutions
- Communicate transparently with internal and external customers regarding challenges, successes, and AI system limitations
Requirements
- 8 to 10 years of practical software development experience
- 2 years of experience with prompt engineering and prompt or agent scripting
- Direct experience authoring agentic instructions and prompts, designing autonomous AI workflows, and building verification tests
- Strong command of data structures, algorithms, system design, APIs, data modeling, and testing
- Proficiency in front-end development with modern component frameworks, server-side development, relational data modeling, and REST and GraphQL API design
- Experience developing and optimizing microservices handling up to 10 million rows
- Experience with RESTful and streaming APIs, model or inference endpoints, web services, and integration technologies
- Ability to develop unit tests and AI evaluation harnesses for code components, prompts, and complete applications
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in computer science or a related field
- Coursework or experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Familiarity with IaaS environments like Google Cloud or AWS and their managed AI services
