Job Description
Motive wants a Telematics Coverage Engineer to grow both the range and the detail of vehicle telemetry its platform captures across on-highway and off-highway vehicle designs. The full-time, on-site job is in the United States. The engineer investigates OEM telematics offerings, examines vehicle network activity and develops practical methods to collect and interpret data that supports new product features and customer insight.
Work runs from research through validation. The engineer interprets wiring diagrams, body builder documentation and OEM manuals to find the right connection and data-access route, then applies on-vehicle diagnostics, log review, data scraping, reverse engineering and bespoke scripts to add coverage. Results are written up for engineering and product teams, and the role includes visiting customer sites to validate solutions on vehicles, alongside global cross-functional colleagues.
Qualified applicants bring four-plus years with vehicle network traffic or telematics, hands-on work with vehicle communication systems, and programming ability in C, C++ or Python. Hands-on use of multimeters, oscilloscopes and scan tools, comfort with reverse-engineering hardware, and a grasp of automotive diagnostic standards are all part of the job. Base pay is listed as $140,000 to $170,000 USD, and Motive's benefits package applies.
