Wpromote is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead the engineering department governing Polaris, which serves as the client CRM and marketing intelligence platform. This executive role is responsible for overseeing engineering strategy, architecture, security, quality, reliability, financial stewardship, and personnel development. The position sits on the Product Development Leadership team and requires close collaboration with product management, UX, data science, security, finance, clients, and technology vendors.
This leader will manage engineering managers and individual contributors across application stacks, data pipelines, quality engineering, and cloud platforms. Key focus areas include scaling development practices, driving the adoption of artificial intelligence in software creation, establishing shared platform capabilities, and planning capacity and budgets. The ideal candidate blends executive leadership with technical depth, possessing the capability to handle critical incidents, define architecture roadmaps, and step into technical problem-solving when business needs require it.
The position is a full-time role offering a salary range of $230,000 to $285,000 per year, determined by factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location. Wpromote operates with remote flexibility in most US states, alongside office hubs located in Los Angeles and New York. Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and manage engineering managers and individual contributors across application stacks, data pipelines, quality engineering, and cloud platforms
- Oversee capacity planning, staffing allocations, operational budgets, and vendor spend for cloud, data, AI, and tooling
- Partner with Product, UX, Data Science, and leadership to shape the Polaris roadmap, sequence investments, and balance technical health with customer value
- Maintain an actionable architecture roadmap that supports growth while eliminating fragile systems and unnecessary operational costs
- Set and execute the engineering AI strategy by evaluating coding agents, model providers, and automation opportunities
- Manage end-to-end technical architecture across Python, Django, React, PostgreSQL, Airflow, BigQuery, dbt, GKE, Cloud Run, Terraform, and GitHub Actions
- Handle service-level objectives, incident management, corrective actions, and risk reduction as the final engineering escalation for critical events
- Collaborate with Security and Legal on secure architecture, identity and access management, data governance, and compliance obligations
Requirements
- 12 or more years of software engineering experience
- At least 5 years of experience leading engineering managers and multidisciplinary engineering organizations
- Demonstrated track record of building healthy teams, developing leaders, and delivering complex products with cross-functional stakeholders
- Deep architectural judgment across modern SaaS applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and distributed systems
- Practical experience adopting AI-assisted development or agentic workflows while balancing speed against security, quality, and maintainability
- Proven ownership of cloud and software budgets, vendor relationships, and capacity planning
Qualifications
- Direct experience with Google Cloud Platform and the Polaris technology stack
- Background in digital marketing, advertising technology, agency technology, or high-volume data and analytics integrations
- Experience building customer-facing, multi-tenant enterprise products sharing data and platform capabilities
- Familiarity with data ingestion and transformation at scale across heterogeneous APIs and data warehouses
- Production support experience for data science and measurement applications like marketing mix modeling and forecasting
- Experience working within SOC 2 or similar control environments, enterprise identity management, and client security reviews
