PointClickCare is recruiting a Vice President, Product Operations, with the role open remotely in Canada or on a hybrid basis in Mississauga, Ontario. The hybrid version requires living within commutable distance of the office and taking part in recurring in-person team events. The position is full time and reports to the Chief Product and Technology Officer.
The VP leads Product Operations, shaping and scaling the processes, governance structures, planning routines and operating rhythms that help the Product and Engineering organisation execute. The role works closely with Product, Engineering, Finance and Strategy colleagues to sharpen visibility into the portfolio, improve planning and support disciplined decision-making.
Day-to-day responsibilities include running annual, quarterly and continuous product portfolio planning, facilitating cross-functional reviews that balance strategic goals against capacity, dependencies and resource trade-offs, and creating governance that makes decisions transparent. The VP also oversees portfolio reporting and dashboards for leadership and investment decisions, and grows the product management practice through standards and tools.
Candidates are expected to hold a relevant first degree and to bring more than ten years of leadership spanning PMO work, portfolio roles, product operations, product management or strategy, ideally within a complex technology company. Remote hires may also be asked to attend in-person events in Mississauga or Salt Lake City, including onboarding and periodic team meetings.
Responsibilities
- Direct annual, quarterly and rolling product portfolio planning across Product and Engineering
- Run cross-functional planning conversations and reviews that balance strategy, capacity, dependencies and resource trade-offs
- Put in place governance that clarifies accountability and makes decisions visible
- Keep an eye on portfolio performance and execution health, and find ways to make delivery more predictable
- Lead the creation and ongoing improvement of Product Operations processes and standards
- Set the cadence for planning, portfolio check-ins, operating forums and governance mechanisms
- Coordinate with business partners, UX/UI, Engineering and Product to improve collaboration
- Build dashboards, operational metrics and executive-level insight for portfolio reporting
- Raise product management maturity with operational standards, frameworks, tools and practices
- Spot operational risks and dependencies and recommend remedies
- Lead, mentor and grow the Product Operations leaders and staff
Requirements
- First degree in business, engineering, computing, information systems or a closely related area
- More than ten years in escalating leadership roles inside large technology firms, covering PMO, portfolio, strategy, product management or business operations work
- Track record running planning routines, governance structures and portfolio processes that keep multi-team delivery on course
- Ability to persuade senior leaders and bring Finance, Strategy, Engineering and Product into alignment
- Analytical, strategic and operational leadership, using metrics and reporting to inform planning and executive decisions
- Experience growing managers and specialist staff, covering development and performance management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management across executive leadership teams
Qualifications
- MBA or an equivalent postgraduate degree in management or a technology-related field
- Experience supporting Product and Engineering teams in SaaS or healthcare technology, or in a similar tech-driven setting
- Background in refining planning, governance or portfolio methods through periods of expansion or restructuring
