Job Description
Role overview. Grafana Labs is recruiting a full-time Senior Director of Solutions Engineering for the Americas. The role is remote. The director builds and leads a team of Solutions Engineers, shapes the region's technical sales plan with sales leadership, and partners with the customer experience group, marketing, product and engineering teams to lift adoption, retention and expansion.
Leadership style. The posting wants technical leaders, not managers who keep their distance from the product. The director should be comfortable stepping into a demo or a hard technical objection when a deal needs it, and should keep current on the product.
Scope. Responsibilities include recruiting, ramping and mentoring presales SE leaders and individual contributors, owning regional metrics such as ARR, net revenue retention, pipeline coverage and forecast accuracy, and keeping a steady forecasting rhythm. The director acts as an executive sponsor for major accounts, supports evaluations and proofs of value, and creates programs and materials that help major accounts adopt the technology. The role also identifies channel partners at local, geographic and global levels, holds quarterly career conversations, and sets 30/60/90-day onboarding expectations.
Who it suits. The posting asks for three-plus years as a director who leads a team, plus five to ten years in technical high-tech roles such as developer, architect or sales engineer. Sales experience with monitoring, analytics or charting software, a structured sales method, and a record of beating quarterly targets are expected. Background selling open source or in cloud-first, product-led motions is a plus.
