Fleetio seeks a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to join its remote team. Fleetio provides a modern software platform designed to help organizations worldwide manage their fleet operations, operating as a founding member of the Rails Foundation and backed by $450M in Series D funding as of March 2025.
In this role, the engineer helps close major sales deals by collaborating with Sales and Customer Success teams. The position focuses on translating urgent customer requirements into durable product features that integrate smoothly into the core platform and support long-term use.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success teams to understand customer workflows, timelines, and constraints for strategic deals
- Convert key account requests into clear technical requirements and actionable implementation plans
- Drive software projects end-to-end from problem clarification and stakeholder alignment to iterative delivery
- Build production-ready, maintainable, and well-tested features that meet organizational engineering standards
- Communicate risks, timelines, and technical tradeoffs proactively with peers and stakeholders
- Partner with Design, Product, and Engineering colleagues to make pragmatic scoping decisions
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails
- 2+ years of experience working with React
- Strong background in building and shipping production web applications focused on quality and maintainability
- Experience collaborating with non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into technical plans
- Ability to break down complex requests into milestones and deliver incrementally
- Strong written communication skills suited for a remote and asynchronous work environment
Qualifications
- Experience working on large-scale Ruby on Rails applications
- Experience developing customer-facing platform or product features that support enterprise accounts
- Experience partnering directly with go-to-market teams such as Sales and Customer Success on time-sensitive deliveries
