Databricks seeks a Sr. Forward Deployed Engineer to help organizations build and launch production systems utilizing the Databricks data and AI platform. Databricks operates as a data and intelligence company supporting over twenty thousand organizations globally through its unified platform. In this position, professionals will direct architectural choices, design reference architectures, and construct custom applications while collaborating alongside product, engineering, and developer relations teams. This opportunity suits practitioners who enjoy a blend of technical problem-solving and direct client interaction.
The person in this role will guide accounts through complex big data projects, ensuring scalable and secure deployments. Responsibilities include embedding with client groups, developing reusable tools and frameworks, and assisting with product feedback. Travel is required twenty percent of the time.
Responsibilities
- Design and deploy production-grade reference architectures, custom applications, and machine learning model integrations for clients
- Partner with engagement managers to scope technical delivery tasks based on customer input
- Oversee system architecture and design choices to maintain security, scalability, and adherence to company best practices
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and client stakeholders to fulfill technical project specifications
- Provide product and implementation feedback to engineering and support teams to resolve issues quickly
- Embed with client teams ranging from technical individual contributors to executive leadership
- Develop accelerators, frameworks, and best practices that scale impact across multiple accounts
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of professional background in software engineering, data engineering, or data platforms and analytics
- Proficiency in writing code using Python, Scala, JavaScript, or TypeScript alongside modern frameworks
- Practical familiarity with at least two standard cloud ecosystems and deep expertise in at least one
- Extensive background in distributed computing utilizing Apache Spark and its runtime internals
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for production deployments
- Working understanding of MLOps, machine learning models, and artificial intelligence APIs
- Experience managing project scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes with enterprise clients
- Ability to travel to client locations twenty percent of the time
